What is Elevate?

Elevate is a research-driven professional learning tool. Elevate helps teachers learn how to systematically improve their practice in ways that support student engagement, learning, and development. For example, students are more successful in class when they experience engaging learning conditions, like strong relationships with teachers and schoolwork that feels personally and culturally relevant. Elevate helps educators measure and improve these conditions.


When educators use Elevate, they collect ongoing, formative feedback from their students. They also learn best practices for using students’ feedback to improve student experience and engagement. By working in partnership with their students, educators learn to create a learning environment that supports student engagement, equity, and learning. Elevate is used over multiple cycles of inquiry and action (cycles typically last 6–8 weeks). In each cycle, educators:
