What roles exist and what are the associated permissions?

There are various roles, each with unique levels of permissions and report access as described below. To understand how roles can be meaningful, it’s first important to understand how survey responses are organized and grouped into reports.

How are survey responses organized and reported?

Class or Group

A Class (Ascend & Elevate) or Group (Catalyze) are individuals with a shared experience who respond to the same survey.  A Class/Group Report is generated for each Class/Group.

Community

A Community is a set of Classes/Groups that are managed together. Survey results from all of the Classes/Groups in a Community are pooled together in a Community Report. Learn more about Communities.

Network

A Network is a set of Communities. This is an advanced feature that is available as a premium service. If interested, you can learn more about Networks

What are different roles?

Class Lead or Group Lead

Class Leads in Ascend & Elevate are usually instructors who oversee Classes. Group Leads in Catalyze are usually school or district administrators who oversee a Group.

Community Lead

Community Leads oversee and support implementation across a Community. Typically, a Community Lead is an instructional leader, an enthusiastic instructor, or an administrator who is committed to creating a strong community of practice.

Community Member

A Community Member is usually an instructor or stakeholder who has been invited to a Community.

If a Class/Group is added to multiple Communities, the Class/Group Lead(s) automatically become Community Members in each of those Communities.
