In reports*, a student counts as having participated in a class if they responded to at least one survey in that class. The percent participation for a class is the number of students in that class who participated divided by the total number of students on the class roster.
When calculating percent participation across multiple classes, we take into account all the classes each student is enrolled in. Each enrollment is considered an opportunity to participate — if students are enrolled in one class, they have one opportunity to participate. If students are enrolled in two classes, they have two opportunities, and so-forth. The percent participation across multiple classes is the percentage of participation opportunities that resulted in actual participation. A student might be included multiple times in the participation calculation if they were invited to participate in multiple classes.
*On the participation dashboard, participation rates are reported by survey.
