☝ To prevent this scenario, create a Roster ID rule.
When rosters are unlocked, there may be cases where an instructor adds a Roster ID for a particular student, like an email address, but that student then completes the survey with a different Roster ID, like their school ID. For example, an instructor may have entered sarahjg@stanford.edu as Sarah Gripshover's Roster ID, but then Sarah completed the survey with her student ID, 1234567. In this case, the student’s completed survey response is attached to the incorrect Roster ID. To keep the student’s survey response and change the incorrect Roster ID, you can:
Reference student participation for your Roster to confirm to which Roster ID the completed survey response is attached.
Click Participation in the left sidebar, then View by Student
Select the correct Class and survey dates, then click View
Go to your Roster and alter the ID that was not used, for example, change sarahjg@stanford.edu to DELETEsarahjg@stanford.edu. Because Roster IDs must be unique, this will allow you to then reuse the ID sarahjg@stanford.edu.
Click Classes in the left sidebar, then click Students for the Roster you want to edit
Click the pencil next to the Roster ID that you’d like to edit
Make the edit and click the ✓
Then, change the ID attached to the completed response to the ID you want the student to use moving forward. In this example, you would change 1234567 to sarahjg@stanford.edu.
Participation by Student is updated every night, you can review your changes the next day.
